Dr. Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman

Chairperson

Dr Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman is a Lawyer by profession with vast experience in the public and private sectors. She graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria with a Law degree (LLB Hons) in 1981, and has a Masters degree (LLM) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK 1987.
She has served as two time Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development from 2008 to 2010 and Minister of State Foreign Affairs from 2010 to 2011).
She represented Nigeria as Commissioner Political Affairs, Peace and Security at the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Commission from 2012 to 2016.
Dr Suleiman is currently the Chairperson National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria and serves as an independent Non-Executive Director on the Boards of some companies and organisations.
In addition to contributing to the formulation and implementation of various strategic development policies in the public and private sector, she actively supports gender and humanitarian issues particularly education, skill acquisition and poverty alleviation, through Alkali Hussaini Foundation, a charity organization she founded in 2007.

Dr. Umar Faruk Hussaini

Board Member

Dr. Umar Faruk Hussaini is a retired civil servant with over 35 years of experience in Education, Planning, Administration and Logistics Management.
He holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction in social studies from University of Abuja, A Masters and Bachelors degrees from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and a second Masters Degree from University of Jos.
Dr. Hussaini began his career in academia as a lecturer at the University of Sokoto (1982–1990). From 1990 to 2014, he served in the Federal Civil Service, holding key administrative positions in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), and the Ministry of Interior. Rising to the position of Director, he was responsible for strategic planning, ministerial reporting, policy briefs for national and international stakeholders, and managing major national logistics operations, including the distribution of fertilizers and agricultural inputs. Between 1997 and 2000, Dr. Hussaini was seconded to the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), where he supervised the verification of distribution claims by major oil marketers.
Now retired, Dr. Hussaini continues to contribute informally to public service and educational discussions and supports humanitarian activities through Alkali Hussaini Foundation.

Mrs. Rabiat Haliru

Board Member

A retired civil servant, an Educationist and a Philanthropist with particular interest in supporting orphans.
Ha. Rabiat has a Bachelors degree in Social Studies from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto and a National Certificate in Education from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
She was a two time secondary school principal, served as Commissioner for Social Welfare, Youths and Sports in Sokoto State from 1988 to 1991, and the first Commissioner for Education in Kebbi State in 1991. She retired as a Deputy Director at the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in 2015.
She is currently pursuing service to humanity as a member of the Board of Trustees of two prominent Non-Governmental Organisations, the Alkali Hussaini Foundation and Da'wah Volunteer Initiative.

Mr. Aliyu Umar Kalgo

Board Member

Member Board of Trustees Mr. Aliyu Kalgo holds Bsc Economics from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and MBA (Finance and Banking) from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
He had 22 years banking experience from 1985 to 2007, rising to the position of Deputy General Manager before joining AMCON (Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria) where he retired as General Manager in 2022. He currently serves as Group Executive Director, Finance of MRS Holdings Ltd, and a non Executive Director on the Boards of Standards and Value Consulting Ltd, and Crown Capital Ltd.
Mr. Aliyu Kalgo has attended Executive Programs of internationally acclaimed institutions, including:

⁃ Wharton Business School, Pennsylvania, USA
⁃ Columbia Business School, NY, USA
⁃ International Management Development, IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland

Mrs. Fatima Aminu Bande

Board Member

A Deputy Director with the Nigerian Civil Service.
Fatima holds a Masters Degree in Public Admin from the Nigerian Defence Academy, a Postgraduate Diploma from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a First Degree in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano.
Previously served with the Banking Sector and has a passion for the less Privileged.
Fatima is currently the Secertary of BUK 89’ Set Almajiri Committee and a Member of “Mu kawar da Bara” (an initiative to stop street begging), Kaduna Chapter.

Mr. Khadi Ibrahim Dakaratu

Board Member

Khadi Dakaratu, a distinguished Islamic jurist and scholar from Gwandu, has a Certificate in Advance Judicial Course, from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and served with honor and distinction as a Khadi in the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice before his retirement on 30-05-2015 As a leading authority in "fiqh" and "ta'alim" at the Ihya’ul Ulumiddeen Islamic Institute.
Khadi Dakaratu combines legal brilliance with spiritual insight and helps in guiding the activities of the Foundation in accordance with the values of justice, equity and dedication.

Mr. Sanusi Hussaini

Board Member

A Manager in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Sector, Sanusi Hussaini holds a Masters Degree in Management and finance from the Birmingham City University UK, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from University of Benin and a First Degree in Geography from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
Sanusi is a fellow of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria.

Mr. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar

Board Member

Deputy Manager at Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has 10 years experience in financial regulation, risk management, audit, and assurance. He conducts risk-based examinations of banks at NDIC and ensures compliance with prudential guidelines, regulations, and standards, while driving cybersecurity initiatives.
At Ardova PLC, he optimized supply chains and led audits for infrastructure expansions.
He holds an MSc in Islamic Banking & Finance (University of Glamorgan, UK) and a First Class BSc in Accounting (Limkokwing University, Malaysia). Ahmed is an AAOIFI Fellow (Certified Shariah Advisor & Auditor), Chartered Accountant, a Member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.
He has HarvardX certifications in i.e Technology Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Economic, and Foreign Policies, and Emerging Economics, and NDIC-accredited risk management trainings.

Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Hussaini

Executive Director / Acting Secretary

Mr. Ibrahim Hussaini graduated from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in 1989 with BSc. Zoology, undertook postgraduate studies in Management and Public Administration in 1996 and obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 2004 from the same institution.
He started his career in the former Sokoto State as Master II Biology at Abdullahi Fodio Secondary School from 1991-1997 after which he joined National Orientation Agency as Principal Orientation Officer, up to the year 2000.
Thereafter he served as Head of Administration at the Federal Medical Center Birnin kebbi from 2000 to 2005.
Mr. Ibrahim Hussaini retired from Federal Civil Service as the Director Human Resources Management in 2024 after serving for eight years as a Director at the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO).
He is currently the Executive Director of the Alkali Hussaini Foundation.

Hajiya Aisha Ahmed Hussaini

Coordinator Orphans and Skills Training Programmes

Hajiya Aisha Ahmed Hussaini is one of the pioneer staff of the Foundation having undertaken training at a sister organization Da'awah Philanthropic Services in Katsina in 2010 to prepare her for this role.
She supervises most of the women Skill Training Programmes at the Foundation and currently oversees the Orphans Support Programme.
